iPhone WordPress plugin and theme

Edit:  Thanks Jed for pointing out I actually installed WP-Touch instead of IWphone.  haha.

I seem to be more interested in setting my blog up to do cool things, than actually writing about said cool things.  One of the plugins I’ve found is called WP-Touch.  When it detects the user agent from an iphone or ipod touch, it sends a version of your blog that’s formatted for the iphone.  There’s also an option for the visitor to see your blog with the original formatting if they so choose.  I’ve included a couple screenshots I snagged while writing this post.

    Nice idea! You motivated me to do the same on my site.

    Question – did you compare IWPhone to WPTouch? If so, how did you decide to go with IWPhone? I just installed WPTouch and the resulting style looks almost exactly the same b/w the two (comparing your iPhone optimized site to mine).

    Also, I twitter-replied to you about this but I’ll list it here too: IPhoney is a cool Mac app for simulating what sites look like on the iPhone: http://marketcircle.com/iphoney/. One thing to note: you need to switch the User-Agent in the settings from Webkit to IPhone.

    @Jed
    Nice catch. In looking at WPTouch, I seem to recall reading the text on their website because the paragraph about no slow down sounds really familiar. I’m guessing I ran across it and assumed it was the same thing.

    Whoah, I just looked at what I have installed and in fact, I installed WPTouch. Hahaha. I’m an idiot. Time to edit the post :)
